Sally Pearson to Miss Commonwealth Games Due To Achilles InjuryBy Adam Kopet Sally Pearson has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games, according to Eurosport. The Australian 100-meter hurdler was a favorite to win her third Commonwealth Games title, this time in front of home fans in Gold Coast, Australia. However, after taking part in the opening ceremony, Pearson held a press conference where she announced she would not be racing due to an Achilles injury she had recently been dealing with. Pearson has struggled with injuries in the years that followed her 2012 Olympic win. She did come back and win at the 2017 IAAF World Outdoor Championships, her first World Outdoor title since 2011. It is unclear whether Pearson will be able to recover and compete on the Diamond League circuit this year. More news |
